Damage Cargo
WHAT DO YOU DO?

Contact with your insurance underwriter and liner customer service immediately. We will assist you in the most effective manner.
Engage a surveyor. Do not open the container until a representative of the carrier is there. Preferably, the survey should be undertaken jointly so an assessment of any damages can be made.
Collect documents. Take pictures of the damaged cargo, it should show not only the packaging or exterior of the damaged cargo but also the damaged goods or products including a picture showing the container number(s). For reefer shipments, record the temperature, humidity and ventilation settings (if applicable) as well.
Submit a quantified claim. A claim document must indicate the proof of ownership, a survey report with photos of damaged items and an explanation.
